not particularly :( the art is usually very disappointing after lookin at so much asian anime/manga stuff
and then I end up not watching the show or reading the comic ^^;

They can make their cartoon show knock offs and what not but people who truly care about the art will know the difference.

I like those shows like Avatar. I know Avatar is not anime, but, it still looks cool, and they've made the storyline good too. Honestlt, it said Avatar was one of the best cartoons of the ones out here in the USA. I read in a gamers magazine that Avatar won soooo many awards. Not only for the style, but, for music, synopsis, and character building. I know others hate Avatar, but, I like it, even though it isn't anime. The thing I hate though, is the people who "claim" to draw manga, or produce "anime", and it's not. Any one of us, that is here in the USA, we can not be considered manga artist, and the stuff that we draw can not be consider manga, because it's only anime/manga, if you make it in Japan, because that's where it comes from. So, even though I draw "manga', I can only say that it's just cartoons, because I don't create my stuff in Japan. If you're from the USA, and you draw that stuff, and call it manga, it really isn't because it's created in America. We can only say it has a manga influence. Even me. If the art looks really pofessional, like a real manga artist, it can only be considered "manga influenced" cause it's not from Japan. Sorry, just felt like writing my whole reasoning behind why I say what I say. It'd be cool to hear what you have to say. :lol:

Hell, I don't know anymore. >_< I was happy at first to know that anime was expanding, but America does such a shitty job. It almost makes me wish it didn't expand so that I wouldn't have to see my favorite series look like crappy, childish things. The originals are always better I think. So...maybe if America knew what anime was all about they'd do better.

i agree TT ^ TT but for me, it's that when you open up a an Ameri-manga, the illustrations are so strange to the eye! and the compositions of the panels etc. are never appealing to me.

:highfive: what they need is someone who is a real fan/ person who works in the field of the real thing to work along side the animators :nod: i think that would help a great deal! maybe allow them to bring a touch of authenticity into the style and storytelling:heart:

well obviously it;s "manga influenced " XD thats not what im questioning. what i am saying is that in this country, ppl only see the big eyes, the speed lines, the spiky hair, ( and they know about pokemon, sailormoon, and DBZ ) and are all "okay let's make a show based on what little knowledge we have about anime!!"

then tokyopop takes Avril Lavine and makes a manga about her, then Disney makes manga's about Bambi and princesses like Ariel and Snow white!! when you open the books it's nothing close to what ppl want when they read manga. thats my point.

they make these shows and make these manga that are literally based off of the most stereotypical aspects of the art, completely ignoring the beauty and originality the style has to offer.

it's wonderful the USA is adopting the style, they just need to get it together. and about avatar ^^; in my opinion, it may be one of the best charatoons in the US right now, but if it were compaired to it's Eastern origins such as Cow Boy Bebop or somethign like that, it's brought to shame. this is why i feel we need to learn from the best and build from it.

here's a little something to think about: did you know that Japan developed anime only AFTER they were inspired by Walt Disney movies?? :nod: in my opinion, they've outdone us. we need to learn and do the same. and honestly, consider my work manga regardless :nod: it;s heavily manga inspired yes :heart:
